Steph Goertz
for Mayor
A proven community leader for Wilmot
Wilmot needs leadership that plans for the future instead of reacting to crisis after crisis. Protecting our water, strengthening our villages, improving infrastructure, supporting practical housing solutions, and building long-term resilience are not separate issues — they are all connected
"We need more leaders who live every day what they say they believe in, who help people when nobody else is looking, who truly care about others." ~ Larry Lamb

For almost half a decade, I’ve been bringing together families, businesses and nonprofits to solve real problems and support one another.
From building local networks to coordinating support for thousands of people, I’ve seen what’s possible when we stop working in silos—and start working together.
I have stood in front of municipal councils across Waterloo Region, speaking on important issues and have felt like my voice did not matter.
Over the past 4 years, I have seen our township ignore the voices of our community.
What we need is a council that will stand up for its residents,
a council that will bring people into the decision-making process, and
a council that will find practical and innovative ways
to tackle the challenges we are facing.

I will protect our rural township—our water, our farmland, and what makes our community unique—while also increasing affordable housing
and supporting local businesses.
That means focusing growth where it makes sense, using proven approaches from other municipalities, and working with our community to
find practical, responsible solutions.
We can reduce financial pressure on residents while still maintaining the roads and infrastructure we rely on—if we plan smarter and work together.

Leadership with Results
For the past four years, I’ve helped lead and manage a not-for-profit that was started in Wilmot Township and has now grown across Ontario:
-
Provided housing to over 1,700 people
-
Supported thousands with resources and community programming
-
Managed over 14 properties and their ongoing operations
-
Connected people struggling to find employment with jobs
-
Ensured volunteers felt welcomed and involved
-
Coordinated teams to deliver food, clothing, household and hygiene items to people in need

This work isn't theoretical—it is hands-on
-
Managed budgets, reporting, and day-to-day operations
-
Hired and coordinated teams of volunteers, with over 200 actively participating
-
Created opportunities with limited resources to solve complex problems
-
Built strong partnerships with local churches and service groups
-
Secured funding through successful grant writing
I did this without relying on government funding. It was done by working together, being resourceful, and focusing on results.
